SAT Prep Pricing Compared: What Free, Monthly and Pay-Once Plans Actually Charge

Compare published SAT prep prices from Khan Academy, OnePrep, Magoosh, UWorld, PrepScholar and ClassVal, including free tiers and access windows, as of October 2026.

SAT prep prices are hard to compare because they are not shaped alike. Some tools are free, some charge by the month, and some charge once for access that expires on a set date. This post lays out what Khan Academy, OnePrep, Magoosh, UWorld, PrepScholar and ClassVal publish, so you can compare the structure of each price and not just the number.

Ask what the price buys and when it ends. A $99 plan that expires in 30 days and a $5.99 plan you can stop any month are different deals.

How We Compared These

ClassVal publishes this article, so read it with that in mind. We compared tools using each company's public pages as of October 2026: College Board's pages for Bluebook and Khan Academy, OnePrep's pricing page, Magoosh's plans page, UWorld's SAT page and PrepScholar's SAT pricing page. Prices, sales and features change often. Confirm everything on the company's own site before you pay.

We left out details we could not confirm on an official page. We also do not rate quality here. A table of prices cannot tell you which tool teaches best, and we make no claim about score gains for any product.

The Three Ways SAT Prep Is Priced

Almost every option fits one of three models, and the model matters as much as the amount.

  • Free. Khan Academy's Official Digital SAT Prep and Bluebook practice tests are free, according to College Board. OnePrep and ClassVal also have free tiers, with limits on each.
  • Monthly or timed access. ClassVal Premium is billed monthly. UWorld sells access windows of 30 to 360 days. Magoosh lists monthly prices on plans that do not auto-renew and expire when the term ends.
  • Flat price for a long window. PrepScholar's courses list one flat price with 12 months of access; its page does not spell out the billing method. OnePrep's current SAT plans are one-time payments that run through the November 8, 2026 test date.

What Premium Costs Over Different Study Windows

A monthly price is easy to scale. ClassVal Premium is $5.99 a month, so the total is simple multiplication. Compare these totals with the one-time prices above.

ClassVal Premium at $5.99 a month, multiplied out. It assumes you subscribe for exactly that many months and pay no other fees.
Months of PremiumTotal
1$5.99
2$11.98
3$17.97
6$35.94
12$71.88

The same arithmetic works against the others. UWorld's 90-day question bank is listed at $149, OnePrep's Pro plan at $99 until November 8, and PrepScholar's course at $397 for 12 months. Those buy different things, so a lower total is not automatically a better fit. It does show how much of the price is set before you open the first question.

When Free Official Prep Is Enough

Khan Academy and Bluebook are the right starting point for many students, and we say so plainly. College Board describes Official Digital SAT Prep on Khan Academy as free. Its page lists practice test breakdowns, leveled practice at Foundations, Medium and Advanced, short video examples, and diagnostics, quizzes and unit tests.

If you already study consistently without reminders, and you have time to work through official material, you may not need to pay anyone. Our deeper comparison of the official tools is in the guide linked below.

What the Free Tiers of Other Tools Limit

OnePrep's free tier lists 20 orbs plus 10 more per week, 500 expert-written questions and 1 full-length practice test. ClassVal's free tier caps practice at 35 questions a day and includes 1 full-length test, with no credit card. The limits are different: OnePrep's free tier is a fixed set of 500 questions plus a weekly orb allowance, while ClassVal's is a daily cap that resets. Neither is better for everyone. If you prefer long weekend sessions, a daily cap can feel tight. If you prefer 20 minutes a day, it may never bind.

When Paying More Makes Sense

A higher price can be worth it if you want something the cheaper tools do not publish. Live classes or one-on-one tutoring, such as PrepScholar's live and tutoring plans, are a different product from a self-serve app. A stated score guarantee is another, but read the eligibility rules first, because they carry conditions, such as required work and claim windows. Our guarantees comparison below walks through them.

Rough decision guide. These are our suggestions, not claims about any company's results.
If you...Start with
Want zero cost and will self-directKhan Academy plus Bluebook
Want a daily plan and a low monthly billClassVal free, then Premium if the cap blocks you
Need live instruction or tutoringA live or tutoring plan, after reading its terms
Have a fixed test date within weeksA time-boxed plan whose window matches your date

Your Next Step

Write down your test date, then use the free tools for one week. Take a Bluebook practice test, try Khan Academy and ClassVal's free tier, and pay only if one specific limit gets in your way. Check the company's own page for current prices first.

FAQ: SAT Prep Pricing

What is the cheapest way to prepare for the SAT?

Free official tools cost nothing. College Board describes both Bluebook practice tests and Official Digital SAT Prep on Khan Academy as free. ClassVal's free tier and OnePrep's free tier are also available without paying.

How do I compare a monthly plan with a one-time plan?

Multiply the monthly price by the number of months you will actually study, then compare that total with the one-time price and its expiry date. Also check what ends when the window does. ClassVal Premium is $5.99 a month for unlimited practice sessions and unlimited Coach chat, and its free tier is 35 questions a day with 1 full-length test.

Do SAT prep prices change?

Yes. We saw a limited sale code on one site and plan dates tied to the November 2026 test on another. Always confirm the price on the company's page before you buy.

Does a higher price mean a higher score?

We cannot say that, and no price on this page is a promise of any score change. Your results depend on the practice you do and how well you review mistakes.

Are the prices in this post guaranteed?

No. They are what each company published when we checked in October 2026, and we do not control them.
